OLD KINGDOM (2700 - 2200 BCE) - Pharaoh Khufu
"Age of the Pyramids"
"Period of Reunification"
"Egypt's Golden Age"
Between the four Pharaohs of the three kingdoms, I think that Pharaoh Senusret I was the greatest. He was a strong leader like the other three and achieved great accomplishments, but he also brought art and literature to the people of his kingdom. During this time, the kingdom was peaceful and stable. The craftspeople created beautiful jewelry and artwork. Some of the greatest Egyptian literatures were also created during his reign.

There were three Kingdoms of Egypt...Old Kingdom (2700-2200 BCE), Middle Kingdom (2000-1800 BCE), and New Kingdom (1600-1100 BCE). Egypt was known as Powerful Egypt during the times of the three kingdoms. Around 3000 BCE, a few hundred years before the start of the Old Kingdom, the Egyptians developed the Egyptian hieroglyphics.
The construction of pyramids also began during the Old Kingdom. The Middle Kingdom did not see much activity, society seemed stable during this time. However, The New Kingdom saw much more activity, with the conquering of Kush, and turning the people of Kush to "Egyptianized Kushites." A society that was structured like a pyramid was created, with the Pharaoh being at the very top and artisans just above the peasants and slaves. Around 1250 BCE, Moses led The Hebrews away from slavery from the Egyptians and moved the Canaan (Israel). A couple hundred years after the Hebrews moved to Canaan, King David (1004-965 BCE) reigned Canaan. Towards the end of the New Kingdom, the Egyptian power started to decline. In the 700's BCE, Egypt was conquered by Kush and it ruled Egypt for 100 years. In 671 BCE, the Assyrians from Mesopotamia invaded Egypt and kicked out the Kushites around the mid 650's BCE. Then in 24 BCE, the Romans conquered Egypt and tried to conquer Kush. The Romans were not able to take over Kush so they signed a peace treaty. By 70 CE, the Romans destroyed the Hebrew Temple.
